Danny Gatton’s debut solo album, recorded at Bias Recording Co. in Falls Church, Virginia and released in 1978 on NRG Records. A groundbreaking fusion of jazz, country, and rock and roll that earned the nickname “the guitar album of the 70s.” Gatton leads on guitar, banjo, and pedal steel, backed by an extraordinary ensemble including Buddy Emmons on pedal steel, Dick Heintze on piano, Evan Johns on vocals and guitar, Bob Hancock on rhythm guitar, John Previti on bass, and Dave Elliott on drums. The title track “Redneck Jazz” became a calling card for Gatton’s singular ability to blend genres at will. Available on vinyl and CD through NRG Records.
