A Look Back at Guitarist Danny Gatton and the Rise of ‘Anacostia Delta’ Blues” — The Washington Post

In the late 1970s, the term “Anacostia Delta” was coined by the late guitar legend Danny Gatton to describe the roots music scene in and around the nation’s capital. Now a new documentary, “Anacostia Delta: The Legacy of D.C.’s Telemasters,” aims to chronicle the music and the musicians who created it.

The film features interviews with E Street Band guitarist Nils Lofgren, country star Vince Gill and jazz great Mike Stern, as well as local musicians who were part of the scene, including bassist John Previti, who served as the film’s musical director.

“It’s a story about a bunch of friends who grew up together and played music together,” Previti said. “It’s about a community of musicians who really cared about each other and the music they made.”
